Funding Opportunities

***2015 Conferences***

A major part of our mission is to support the activities of researchers from any country on all aspects of biodiversity of ciliates through grants for travel.  Proposals involving the following will be considered for funding:

Professional Meeting

Purpose

To present results of recent research on some aspect of biodiversity of ciliates.

Eligibility

Priority Applicants: Young researchers (graduate students, postdocs, junior faculty) and all researchers who are new to the field of ciliate biology or who reside in a part of the world in which studies of biodiversity are under-represented.

Researchers demonstrating the need for travel funds and proposing to present a paper communicating significant new results will be considered.

Award Information

Successful proposals may be funded up to $1200 per applicant.  Any additional funding dependent on IRCN-BC funding and applicant justification.

Submission Deadline

Proposals must be submitted at least one month prior to date of requested travel. All proposals will be considered while funding is available —contact us to inquire

Proposal preparation

Applicants must submit a proposal consisting of the following parts:

Training

Purpose

To acquire experience or training in techniques critical for specific research techniques that will be applied to research on biodiversity of ciliates.

Eligibility

Priority Applicants: Young researchers (graduate students, postdocs, junior faculty); however, proposals from more senior faculty seeking new methodoligies or skills may be considered.

Award Information

Successful proposals may be funded up to $3000 per applicant.  Any additional funding dependent on IRCN-BC funding and applicant justification.

Submission Deadline

Proposals must be submitted at least one month prior to date of requested travel. All proposals will be considered while funding is available —contact us to inquire

Proposal preparation

Proposals should demonstrate that this training will enhance the ability of the applicant to engage in multidisciplinary research on biodiversity of ciliates.

Applicants must submit a proposal consisting of the following parts:

Collaboration and Development

Purpose

To collaborate on a specific research project resulting in one or more publications or providing preliminary results for a major new grant proposal.

Eligibility

Priority Applicants: Young researchers beyond the level of postdoc; however, proposals from senior faculty or from small groups of faculty are welcome.

Proposals should demonstrate originality and should include research in more than one of the dimensions of biodiversity (taxonomy, functional ecology, genetics).

Applicants must submit a proposal consisting of the following parts:

Submission of proposals

All proposal documents should be saved as PDFs. Please email a statement of interest with attached documents to web_admin@ircn-bc.org. Incomplete proposals cannot be considered.
